Foreword
What a year it was for the ICMAB!
Let us highlight three things, details of which you will find spread across the specifics of our activity in this report:
1) Research. We published many scientific papers of very high quality and continued paths to knowledge transfer. In the first full year of our third Severo Ochoa Excellence award, our challenge teams set out on the scientific adventures that this funding has allowed. Individually, our researchers have found noteworthy success in attracting funds for their research.
2) Training. This year the 450th PhD graduate defended their research in the ICMAB. This remarkable milestone highlights the broad impact we have in helping scientists along their career paths. The Future Leaders workshop is another example of our commitment in this regard. We also increased the number of general training events held for all staff, including a special science communication event for our early stage researchers.
3) The ICMAB family. A number of actions were initiated to make our excellent working environment even better. Participation in surveys and consultancies helped us identify areas where we can progress in making everyone more comfortable in our centre. Especially, in consonance with our central CSIC organisation, we reaffirmed our zero tolerance towards violence in the workplace. The joint analysis by support and scientific staff identified paths to better functioning of processes, and the establishment of a group of people that will monitor conflicts are hoped to keep the ICMAB a great place to work.
Our results of all kinds show how healthy the ICMAB is, and the seeds that have been sown across the three highlighted areas (as well as others that you can find in our detailed report) will help keep it that way.
Thank you to all ICMABers for making this happen.
